Realization that humans need nature for several reasons:

– Beauty of natural wonders and creatures, large and tiny, is relaxing to humans.
– Walking in wilderness or small jewels of natural areas, breathing fresh air, reduces stress.
– Human civilization depends on reducing climate change and conserving natural areas
– Agriculture and flowers demand pollinators. Wild creatures, such as birds and bees, spread pollen, seeds, and nuts.
– Waterfalls, trees, large bodies of water, and other natural process clean air and water, both essential to all life.

“My goal is to photograph birds and animals in action: flying, running, eating, bathing, feeding young, courting, whatever. I need to see how species interact and depend on their environments.”
